Fiber Supplements
Fiber supplements provide concentrated sources of dietary fibre in powders, capsules, tablets, gummies and chewable products. Common options include psyllium husk, methylcellulose, inulin, wheat dextrin and other soluble or insoluble fibres.
Compare the type of fibre, amount per serving, flavour, added sugar and preparation instructions. Psyllium absorbs liquid and expands, so products containing it should be taken with the amount of water stated on the label. Increase fibre gradually, as a sudden high intake may cause gas or bloating. Supplements can help increase fibre intake, but they should complement fibre-rich foods such as vegetables, fruit, legumes and whole grains.
