Healthy aging supplements include multivitamins and individual nutrients marketed for adults over 50. Available formulas may contain vitamin D, vitamin B12, calcium, magnesium, omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants or combinations of vitamins and minerals in tablets, capsules, gummies, powders and liquids.
Compare the actual nutrient amounts, serving size and ingredients already provided by your food and other supplements. Multivitamins designed for older adults often contain more calcium and vitamins D and B12 and less iron than general adult formulas, but individual needs differ. Supplements should address a nutritional need rather than promise to prevent aging, heart disease, cancer or cognitive decline, and combining several products can lead to excessive nutrient intake or medicine interactions.
