Liquid Chlorophyll Supplements

Liquid chlorophyll supplements are concentrated drops or solutions that are usually mixed with water. Although they are commonly described as chlorophyll, many over-the-counter products actually contain sodium copper chlorophyllin, a water-soluble derivative of natural chlorophyll. Shoppers should therefore check the exact ingredient and amount per serving rather than relying only on the product name.
These supplements should not be marketed as proven products for detoxification, weight loss, skin clearing or disease prevention. Oral chlorophyll or chlorophyllin may cause green urine or stools, tongue discolouration or occasional diarrhoea. Safety has not been adequately studied during pregnancy or breastfeeding, so the Linus Pauling Institute advises avoiding these supplements during those periods.
