Vitamin B Complex Supplements
B-complex supplements combine several or all eight B vitamins, usually including thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, pantothenic acid, vitamin B6, biotin, folate and vitamin B12. They come in tablets, capsules, gummies, liquids and powders, and the amount of each vitamin can differ widely between formulas.
Compare every nutrient on the supplement label rather than looking only at the total number of B vitamins. More is not necessarily better, particularly for vitamin B6, because prolonged intake of excessive supplemental amounts can cause nerve damage. Check for duplication when taking a multivitamin or other fortified products, and seek advice when pregnant, breastfeeding or taking regular medication.
