Cleansing Oil

Cleansing oils are oil-based facial cleansers designed to dissolve makeup, water-resistant sunscreen, surface oil and daily impurities. When mixed with water, many formulas emulsify into a milky texture that can be rinsed away without leaving a heavy oily layer. Use cleansing oil on dry or slightly damp skin according to the product instructions, massage gently and rinse thoroughly. It may be used alone or as the first step of double cleansing, followed by a water-based cleanser. Oil cleansing is particularly useful for waterproof makeup and sunscreen, but shoppers with blemish-prone skin may prefer formulas labelled non-comedogenic.
