Permanent hair color is designed to create a long-lasting colour change and is commonly used for complete colour application, root touch-ups or grey coverage. Home kits usually contain a colourant and developer that must be mixed and applied according to precise timing and safety instructions. Perform the instructed skin allergy test before every application, even when the same shade has been used previously. Wear gloves, keep the dye away from the eyes and do not apply it to irritated, sunburned or damaged scalp skin. Permanent hair dye must never be used on eyebrows or eyelashes because this can cause serious eye injury.
